Helena Torpy (fiddle) and Steve Turner (accordion) have been making music together for more than ten years, and are better known as one half of the innovative South-West based band the Eelgrinders.

Playing as a duo their music displays a rare empathy, at times joyful and at times melancholy, always beautiful and flowing. They draw on a wide range of European traditions and influences to create highly expressive music with a very individual sense of presence.

The new CD sideways air by Helena Torpy and Steve Turner is a finely crafted album of fiddle and accordion music, evocative often slow moving pieces with a rich full sound and resonant harmonies. A collection of beautiful tunes both original and traditional, it is the sort of album which is perfect listening for a winteršs evening by the fire or for a relaxing summer's day, and altogether very suitable for the British climate
