Press info on Kalmuk
Kimmo's most elaborate project to date is the extravaganza entitled Kalmuk, featuring fifteen members of Tapiola Sinfonietta, one of Finland's best chamber orchestras, and two of Finland's most respected alternative music percussionists Abdissa "Mamba" Assefa and Samuli Kosminen.
Kalmuk is an extended work composed by Pohjonen, conceived with the goal of stretching the possibilities and capabilities of classical orchestral music and players and to find new sounds and ways of playing. This music is possible only with the incorporation of the following elements. Specifically:
Tapiola Sinfonietta instruments in Kalmuk: 4 x 1st violin, 2nd violin, viola, double bass, flute, 2 x oboe, clarinet, 2 x bassoon, 2 x English horn.
| "The music is captivating, shocking, disturbing, invigorating. It exists in a musical world somewhere between classical and avant-garde folk. A unique album from an unique, original talent." - Fiona Talkington, BBC |

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
