The Sicilian group, was born from the artistic jointure between Ramya and Maurizio Cucuzza and immediately beloved by Peter Gabriel and Thomas Brooman who wanted them from the very beginning in 1998 to take part of the Womad circuit. It has been a prestigious target,but also a hard training and a first class showcase for this group who strongly believes in cultural mixture and in genuineness.
La via della sete (The way of thirst) is a bankless tale dedicated to the statement of the environment and human rights and actually, this “sete”,thirst,is first of all the thirst for justice and for equality, a river of music and words born in the middle of nature and in the isolation of the mountain,but thought by sea people,sea hearted people with unavoidable future and destiny.
The lively strength of water that cannot be stopped, so precious and unique but indeed always more and more dramatically exploited,wasted,stolen and the fluvial metaphora, are the keys for interpreting the message of Nuklearte also on a political meaning . This is the liquid,fertile, feminine answer ,naturally disobedienting onto the pietyless logic of power.The answer to every war,which never are right wars.
So, the passwords for fighting against the deserts of soul,the deserts of history are :breaking the banks,enlarging,becoming wave,billow,tide.
From a musical point of view, La via della sete, signs a path towards a south eastern track leading to “another possible world”,12 real acoustic mantra and mandala, sang in djulà,lingala sicilian,english and italian, in which tablas and sitar meet african percussions and the “electric body” of loops, supported by a classical base (bass-drums-guitars-keyboards) with a slight rhythmical structures in 4 sorrounded by international great impacted armonies, to underline that communicating and beeing universal and plural at the same time, is very important.
Thanks to tracks like Acqua Jiva Sakti, Soki Moy Etiki Mokilité, Satariù , Sangolò Ni Korò and Gorè,spirituality and singing, engagement and enjoyment finally become one.
That’s why La via della sete, just like water, evokes and invokes,and is a unique precious artwork,maybe just a little drop of emotion that brings genuine flavours and scents from all over the world and, in the meanwhile reflects the colours of dream and hope.
