Neaskenè
Apologia Di Un Canovaccio (Tomato/CNI)
The debut (2006) by a young band from Ravenna, Italy. Fronted by singer Sara Cicognani. They work within and without the tradition, mixing jazz, ethnic music, other national idioms and original writing. Tammorre (traditional drums), fretless electric bass, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, bandoneon and other local and global instruments are merged to create a distinctively "pop" sound with a real edge and solid roots.

The record label says:
"Apologia Di Un Canovaccio" is the debut album by Neaskenč, a promising new band from Ravenna inspired and lead by the voice of Sara Cicognani. With this album Neaskenč have released a work that is both foolish and intriguing, a balance between jazz, ethnic music, tango and pure song writing. Using the sounds of tammorre (ethnic drums), fretless bass, guitars with a noise flavour, the mandolin and the sitar Neaskenč create their own scene, a kind of new beginning for Italian music, an attempt to be understood in the humblest sense of the term.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
