cd cover Roberta Alloisio with Orchestra Bailam
Lengua Serpentina (CNI)

Italian vocalist Alloisio offers a project that joins an Oriental sound, the tempos of the Balkans, the chant-like singing of Genoa and lyrics taken from both classical and popular literature spanning from the XIII century to now. A rich mixture of different sounds is completed with arrangements of Franco Minelli and the Orchestra Bailam, with additional vocal help from another fine singer of baroque and ancient music, Marco Beasley. Highly recommended.

More info:
“Lengua Serpentina” is the first solo album by Roberta Alloisio with “Orchestra Bailam”. Our purpose was to create a new authentic product, rooted in the traditions but open to spirit of our time. It seems a good thing to have an ideal dialogue whit all that cultures got in touch with Genoa from age to age, more than ever an actual comparison thanks to the continuous presence in the city of many different stranger communities, that create a new language, a new kind of relationship with the people, the story, the culture of the city. Therefore here is a musical project that join together Oriental sound and the twisted, odd tempos of the Balkans, the chant-like singing of the Genoa’s dialect and the lyrics taken from them high and popular literature, from the XIII century to us. This is a rich mixture of different sounds, reached also with the work in arrangement of Franco Minelli and the Orchestra Bailam. The voice of Roberta is the perfect instrument for this compositions and gives to the dialect a new intensity and expressivity. The CD features also Marco Beasley, universally recognized as one of the most interesting voices of the baroque and ancient music.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
