Please note!
Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. I guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
Thanks- Cliff, cdRoots

Zegar Zivi (Zegar Lives)
- Zegar Zivi
$18.99
(cdRoots# ac-z)
Powerful acapella group vocals, often using the wild beating-against-drone technique of groktenje, diple playing, goat-calling and church-bell ringing from a group of amazingly resilient Serbian singers who've moved back to their village of Žegar in the rocky hill-country of Dalmatia in Croatia – a region war-shattered in the 1990s and still depopulated, but beautiful and now peaceful - to rebuild their homes and pick up the threads of their lives and rich musical traditions. The album's title, and the group's name, means Žegar Lives.Recorded in Žegar in May 2007, produced by Andrew Cronshaw in collaboration with Svetlana Spajić. The digipak contains a 60 page booklet with many photos and extensive notes including the background story to the recordings (in English). Listen

The English composer and musician player turns 'world music' around by inviting an international roster of artists to help him reinterpret his own traditions. At a studio in south-west Wales, he recorded with Syrian qanun and oudist Abdullah Chhadeh, Welsh triple-harpist Llio Rhydderch, Arabic vocalist Natacha Atlas, Pontic/Greek lyra player Matthaios Tsahourides, Australia-resident Brit Ian Blake on bass clarinet, clarinet, soprano sax and prepared piano, Irish double bassist Bernard O'Neill, and himself on electric zither, the 6 foot long Slovakian flute fujara, Chinese brass-reeded ba-wu and other instruments not usually associated with English music.

On The Shoulders of the Great Bear
- Cronshaw, Andrew
$16.99
(cdRoots# ac-1)
British zither player with a wonderful cast of Nordic musicians produces sometimes ethereal, sometimes raw new acoustic music.
