Please note!
Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. I guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
Thanks- Cliff, cdRoots

Search tips:
This is a small database, and you will rarely return too many listings, so keep it simple. Your search will be returned only for listings with ALL the words you enter in the serach. So if you put in Poland and jazz, you will only get those listings that meet both criteria. This is a fairly primitive search tool, so don't use punctuation like quotes or commas, and do not use limiters like and and or... they don't help. Finally, only very basic ASCII charaters are readable (like I said, it's primitive), so substitute any letters with diacritical or accent marks with a simpler letter, ie: search Boden instead of Bodén.

If you did not find what you were looking for, do not hesitate to send me an e-mail. I may be able to order it for you. Please contact me - Cliff

- Carlos Maza
(cdRoots# hm-maza)
Chilean born, Cuban rooted experimenter puts together a unique, global sound that is variously deeply rooted and wildly surreal. 'True pan-Latin genius.'

- Francesca Ancarola
(cdRoots# pgl-long)
Lonquén is a tribute to the music of Victor Jara, the great Chilean folk singer murdered by Pinochet's regime in 1973. She presents interesting new settings for his work, as well as pieces from the writings of Neruda. Composer and arranger Ancarola blends the folk sounds of South America with jazz and modern touches, singing in both Spanish and English. This is a truly unique work, and highly recommended

Transatlantic Non-stop
- Altiplano and Siyavush Kerimi
(cdRoots# kkv-316)
Altiplano from Ecuador and Chile and Siyavush Kerimi from Azerbaijan have created a unique and uplifting recording together. 'Salam-Hola' was the working title of the project, suggesting just what you hear, a striking mix of South American moods and Brazilian samba twists, sliding into the oriental Mugam improvisations with unexpected turns. The Andes and Caucasus seem to have an affinity, at least when brought together by these musicians.

Piel de aceituna
- Mariana Montalvo
(cdRoots# hm-piel)
Mariana Montalvo has been living in France since the days of Pinochet but connection to her roots has remained strong. Her music provides fresh interpretations of the traditional music of Chile in the tradition of legendary Latin American singers such as Victor Jara, Violetta Para and Mercedes Sosa. Montalvo's original compositions feature stong melodies and instrumentation including the charango, quena (pan-pipes), and trombone, which reflects the influence of Andean brass bands on Montalvo's arrangements. The mix of traditional and modern styles provides support for her adaptations of Chilean poems.
