cd cover Erik Pekkari
Högtryck
$17.99

Erik Pekkari is one of Sweden's most prominent exponents of the diatonic accordion. Born 1966 in Piteå, a small town not far away from the Arctic Circle, he was 7 years old when he started playing the accordion at the Framnäs College of Music. For several years now Erik has specialised in the diatonic accordion, and his style of playing has won acclaim, both in Sweden and abroad. Erik has been greatly inspired, both by music from old recordings, especially of the legendary Swedish accordionist Carl Jularbo (1893-1956), and by the new generation of young folkmusicians. In recent years Erik has lived in Linköping, in the south of Sweden, where he is very active on the folk scene.

Högtryck means "high pressure", and this is a good description of Erik Pekkari's music. Erik plays dance music on the diatonic accordion: Waltzes, schottisches, polkas, polskas and more. Here he shows that the diatonic accordion is definitely not a primitive instrument, but one on which one can make music of the highest standards, which is varied, dynamic and above all: Full of go! Erik has been inspired both by old recordings, notably those of the legendary accordionist Carl Jularbo, and also by the new generation of young folk musicians. This recording contains both solo tunes and tunes backed on zither, guitar and double bass.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
