The official bio:
Manuscripts of sheet music are an important source for knowledge about music in Sweden during the 17th and 18th centuries. The repertoire in these is mostly for the violin, and often with secundo and basso parts. A large part of the music is of foreign origin, and sometimes the sources can be traced to early tablature books in Central Europe or to popular printed collections in Germany and England. A lot of the contents in these manuscripts has been played up until modern times, and was an important part of Swedish traditional music from the 19th and 20th centuries. There has been a constant flow of music between the towns and the countryside, and the distance from a town musician to a countryside fiddler, from town houses to a country wedding, was not too far...

The memebers of Höök are seven musicians with musical experience from greatly differing areas, and a loving and rather free approach to the music of the manuscripts. The result is not a grey and dusty production, but a living interpretation by musicians of today.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
