Folk Songs & Tunes from Bohuslän
17.99
Bohuslän has always had to make way for the "great" folk-music provinces of Sweden. Nevertheless there is a diverse and special fiddle and song tradition here. Listen, for instance, to Martin Martinsson, with everything from "small stumps" and diddles to long ballads out of his inexhaustible repertoire of songs. The fiddle tunes are from Orust, Svarteborg and Hogdal where the players have stubbornly hung on despite tough competition from the accordion. Proximity to Norway gives itself away in much of the music: triplets, double stopping and chords are all elements in the plating technique and a Norwegian dance, halling, will be noticed in the repertoire. Many unusual dances such as lybeckare, engelska and kadrilj are also reflected in the music. This is a reissue of a LP from 1974, completed by songs and fiddle tunes from the archives never made available before. Totally 50 tracks.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
