SonDeSeu is a Galician folk orchestra of 35 students and teachers from El Conservatorio de Música Tradicional de la Escuela de Artes e Oficios de Vigo (The Traditional Music Conservatory of The Vigo School of Arts and Trade) during the 2001-2002 school year. They present traditional material and new compositions, all with a vibrant, youthful vitality and urgency. Ensemble voices, harps, gaita (bagpipe), pandereta and other percussion, zanfoña (hurdy-gurdy), flutes and fiddle all join together in presentations large and small.

SonDeSeu is born from the musical and didactic experience put together in El Conservatorio de Música Tradicional de la Escuela de Artes e Oficios de Vigo (The Traditional Music Conservatory of The Vigo School of Arts and Trade) during 2001-2002. Students and professors part of the first Galician folk orchestra.

A total number of 35 musicians re-create the traditional repertoire and new composition with an open spirit, which has a fundamental acoustic ring. In the most part, the instruments have been made in the country by craftsmen who belong to the actual orchestra. Contemporary arrangements follow in the line of classic Galician folk music produced exclusively for the band by the conservatory professors, who have a long trajectory in this style of music.

Their impeccable presence on stage constitutes for an original and spectacular show. The sound is strong and full of energy, which transmits messages of happiness and harmony to the public. This has been largely demonstrated by the concerts, which have taken place in Galicia since last year. SonDeSeu was the revelation of the 25th Edition of The Ortigueira Festival. Now they are to launch their first phonographic creation.

SonDeSeu nace de una experiencia musical y didáctica realizada en el Conservatorio de Música Tradicional de la Escuela de Artes e Oficios de Vigo a partir del curso 2001-2002. Alumnos y profesores forman la primera orquesta folk de Galicia. Un total de 35 músicos recrean repertorio tradicional y de nueva composición desde un espíritu abierto, un timbre fundamentalmente acústico, instrumentos construidos en su mayor parte en el propio país por artesanos que incluso pertenecen a la propia orquesta, y arreglos contemporáneos en la línea del ya clásico folk gallego producidos en exclusiva para la formación por los profesores de las aulas del conservatorio, todos ellos con larga trayectoria en el estilo.

La cuidada presencia escénica constituye de por sí un espectáculo original y vistoso. El sonido, potente e lleno de energía, transmite al público mensajes de alegría y armonía, como ya se mostró en los conciertos que vienen realizando en Galicia desde el pasado año. SonDeSeu fué la revelación del Festival de Ortigueira en su 25 edición. Ahora presentan su primera creación discográfica.
