Chouteira
Folla de lata
$17.99
Chouteira offers a unique and refreshing lineup. Fronted by the amzing Galician singer Uxía Pedreira, this band of gaitas and brass (quite an interesting sound, so take note you Gaiteiros de Lisboa fans!), accordions and percussion has created a genuinely different sound, rich in tradition but also boldly personal. The beauty is that even at its most adventurous it still sounds like it was pulled from the ancient song books.

The bands says of itself:
Folla de lata was created from the old and new musical forms and under the sound and aesthetics of metal, a memory of the splendour of now abandoned factories and tinning and salting plants of the Galician coast, in need of some kind of workforce and more importantly more conscience. This Folla de lata has been worked on on an accurate assembly line. At the head of this line, CHOUTEIRA. An explosive instrumental combination so far unheard of on the international folk scene. New compositions with lyrics by Uxía Pedreira, Olga Nogueira and Olimpio Giráldez, featuring a collaboration by the Galician poet Rosa Bugallo. Words which speak of falling in and out of love, of the return home of a woman living in a mans body, of the Cantabrian sea, of the use and disuse of an axe

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
