The band says:
The Bluelights (formerly Washboard Slim and the Blue Lights) are "the Jug Band of the 21st century." They have infused the traditional Jug Band music of the 1920’s and 1930’s with the energy of the rock ‘n’ roll music of their own generation. The Bluelights not only play the beloved Jug Band classics but also go where no Jug Band has dared to tread: pop music from the turn of the century, polka, standards and their own version of rock 'n' roll called "jugabilly." Their versatility and crowd pleasing attitude makes them appropriate for a wide variety of settings: from smoky bars to outdoor concerts to private parties. Originally founded in 1986, they continue to perform at major folk and roots music festivals throughout North America. Their first CD was released in 1996 to nationwide critical acclaim and this is their 2006 followup. The Bluelights remain inside the small group of premier jug bands performing today, maintaining the spirit, humor, creativity, and musicality of the Jug Band tradition of our American musical heritage.
