Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. I guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.

Arto Järvelä, Finnish fiddler
Is there an important folk artist he has not played with over the years? Best known for his work with the essential JPP of Kaustinen, Finland, he has been an integral part of Niekku, Tallari, Salamakannel, Ampron Prunni, Koinurit, Pinnin Pojat, Maria Kalaniemi 's Aldargaz, the Helsinki Mandoliners and Erik Hokkanen & Lumisudet. More recently, he has formed a new trio with JPP colleague Timo Alakotila and Swedish fiddler Hans Kennemark (we wait anxiously for this CD to come out in 2005!)
I am pleased to offer the solo recordings by Arto Järvelä, as well as his work with many of the ensembles he has worked with. Click on the titles for more information and sound samples.
On the Coast (Arto Plays the fiddle, Vol. 3) - Arto Jarvela
The thrid in Arto Järvelä's series of fiddle solo recordings tracing the history of the music in Finland. 19 more tunes by the master musician. Notes in English as well as Finnish.
Ampron Prunni - Ampron Prunni
Arto Järvelä (nyckelharpa, fiddle, mandolin) , Risto Hotakainen (fiddle, mandolin, jouhikko) and Timo Valo (harmonium) have been playing together for years in this ensemble, but it took until 2006 for them to finally finish a recording. JPP's Arto Jarvela needs little introduction. Risto Hotakainen and Timo Valo are founding and current members of the important Finnish national folk group Tallari (Arto is also a former member).
Far In! - Arto Jarvela
Arto Järvelä the one-man-band takes a contemporary look at tunes old and new and executes them multi-track style with guitar, mandolin, mandola, kantele, percussion, marimba and of course, fiddle. The adventure continues in 2005.
