Älvdalens Elektriska (Amigo)
One of Sweden's most important artists, singer and violinist Lena Willemark offers her 2006 vision of the folk music of Sweden with her musical return to her home of Evertsberg, in the region of Älvdalens. This is a work of stark intensity, the sparse, powerful arrangements meant to give power to the songs and melodies, not to create some kind of 'new folk' but rather to make the old folk breathe new air.
In spite of the title, this is an acoustic work, with her voice and violin joined by a stellar cast of musicians including Leo Svensson (cello), Mikael Augustsson (accordions and bandoneon), Haci Ahmed Tekbilek (ney), Mikael Marin (viola). Highly recommended!
