cd cover Nina Ramsby and Martin Hederos
Jazzen (Amigo)
$16.99

Singer Nina Ramsby and pianist Martin Hederos first met in 2000 and began singing casually together. In January 2004 recorded Visorna, a collection of their favorite songs in Swedish. In the spring of 2005 they began work on this new recording featuring their own unique takes on standards by notable jazz performers like Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Sade and Betty Carter, as well as some Swedish artists. Nina has rewritten the lyrics in Swedish, to suit her own needs and experiences. These are bare, sometimes stark performances, mostly simply piano and voice, with occasional string, harmonica, reed and brass punctuations that envelope the voice and allow it room to expand and contract as it needs. It runs from bluesy to breezy, always a little down-tempo, a little dark, but never dire.
They also have 2 original pieces (one song, one instrumental), which to my ear, are some of the best pieces on the CD.

Listen:
Och nu gor ingenting ont (It's only love that gets you through)
jag har en van (original by Ramsby and hederos)

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
