Ale Möller BandDjef Djel (Amigo) Well, nothing that has ever come from the hands of Ale Möller has been anything less than brilliant, in my opinion, and this one continues his exploration of the Swedish ethos in the global continuum. This time around, it is just the band, a now well-seasoned sextet of musicians from all over the planet, in sync with each others ideas and exploring new applications of their roots. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, of course

It’s been three years since the release of their Swedish Grammy winning debut album Bodjal. Since then The Ale Möller Band has toured domestically as well as abroad adding new material, on stage, in rehearsal studios and hotel rooms, as they have travelled. In the autumn of 2006 the new songs beckoned to be recorded and the band entered the famed Atlantis Studio (Abba etc) to record their second album.
Contrary to Bodjal where AMB invited quite a few guests the new album Djef Djel focuses on the core of the six piece AMB band. Around the magnificent rhythm section of Mexican master percussionist Rafael Sida Huizar and Canadian bass virtuoso Sebastién Dubé, bandleader Ale Möller, with customary multi arsenal of assorted instruments (this time including a Lazy Susan), Swedish master fiddler Magnus Stinnerbom and the two vocalists Maria Stellas of Greek origin and Mamadou Sene from Senegal weave their magic into usual homogenous AMB groove. During the past several years, the main focus of Ale Möller’s musical creativity has revolved around a clear premise where, in a series of noteworthy projects, he has worked with the meeting between musicians from different cultures and traditions. In the Ale Möller Band a diverse, colorful group of musicians the nucleus of the participants from these projects are reunited. It is the quintessence of Stockholm Folk Big Band, World Music Laboratory and the various constellations that brought about the fantastic evenings in the tent at the Falun Folkmusic Festival. A super band that has already won a large audience through last year’s intensive touring.

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
