More info: Tsuumi Sound System is a highly dynamic modern folk music group consisting of eight musicians with very different backgrounds who appear regularly with the Dance Company. Hotas is the fifth studio album of Tsuumi Sound System. From another perspective, it could also be considered as the debut album of a band that has only recently come home in terms of its formation. The record is made by a steady eight-piece group known for spectacular live performances. This time more than ever – with the assistance of producer Roger Tallroth – Tsuumi Sound System was able to bring their amazing on-stage energy into the studio as well. The musicians have played an essential part in Tsuumi from the very beginning. Even though the composition of the band has somewhat varied over the years, the band leader Hannu Kella has preserved the unique line; the music of Tsuumi Sound System continues to rely on fusion and the band’s original compositions. Still, you can hear the respect for, and knowledge of, Finnish musical tradition loud and clear. “You have to know the tradition in order to vary and apply it” says Kella, who composes most of Tsuumi’s music.
