You can't really assemble a much better acoustic music group than this collaboration of Finnish and American musicians: Ruthie Dornfeld on fiddle, Petri Hakala on mandolin, John Miller on guitar and Tapani Varis on bass and overtone flute. They move effortlessly between Finn and American folk, swing and jazz (and a touch of bossa nova, samba, choro!) in a trans-continental, trans-oceanic music fest.

The band says:
Freshet (formerly Helsinki Express) is a Finnish and American collaboration, and despite the long commute, it's a very exciting band to play in. In this, our debut recording, we play mostly original material. The Scandinavian influence is clear, but we're all very fond of the music of South America, so there's a bossa nova, samba, choro, and a Latin waltz in the program. Enjoy.
